FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers on yardage estimates, skein counts, and buying the right amount the first time.

The amount of yarn you need for a blanket depends on the size, yarn weight, and stitch type. A baby blanket (30" × 40") typically requires 700 to 1,000 yards in worsted weight or 400 to 600 yards in bulky yarn. A throw blanket (50" × 60") needs around 2,000 to 3,000 yards in worsted weight. A queen size blanket (90" × 108") can require anywhere from 6,000 to 9,000 yards in worsted or 3,500 to 5,500 yards in bulky. Crochet blankets generally use 10 to 20% more yarn than knitted blankets the same size, so always add a 10–15% buffer to your estimate for gauge differences and finishing.
